Fabric development
It begins with inspiration
Every collection is a composition. Every fabric tells a unique story. Its material, design and colour are the results of a creative process which begins with inspiration.

Conception
Timeless creations
The pattern of an antique kimono, the bark of a tree, an art deco vase... the sources of inspiration for our textile designers are infinite.
The pattern of an antique kimono, the bark of a tree, an art deco vase ... the sources of inspiration for our textile designers are infinite. They are always on the lookout for new stimulation. They find the impulses for their creations in art and nature, on journeys and in fashion, whilst experimenting with epochs, styles and materials. A feel for interior design and a deep knowledge of materials are indispensible companions on their creative adventure.
These processes give birth to timeless creations building bridges between the past and the future.

Weaving and production
An exciting process of exchange
A creation comes to life. Which yarn accentuates it best? Which fabric is most suitable?
A creation comes to life. Which yarn accentuates it best? Which fabric is most suitable? For our textile designers, an exciting process of exchange with weavers and printers begins, in addition to the search for a suitable manufacturer.
From the very beginning, only the highest-quality materials are used in tests and sampling.
Our textile designers continue to experiment with a range of variants and order the production of numerous, first-class fabrics. The sample stage is only concluded when the implementation meets their strict requirements concerning quality and innovation.

Quality control and storage
Careful consideration
Pieces sent for production as samples now come back as fabric. Before we store an item, we carry out intrinsic inspections to ensure that it meets our quality and colour standards.
Pieces sent for production as samples now come back as fabric. Before we store an item, we carry out intrinsic inspections to ensure that it meets our quality and colour standards. For 111 years Zimmer + Rohde textiles have represented high-quality, sophisticated materials. Only when we are completely convinced that a fabric meets our quality requirements do we accept it in our warehouse.
Of course, careful consideration is given to the specific properties and special characteristics of each fabric when storing them. For instance, sensitive silk velvet is always stored hanging up in order to avoid any dents or marks.

Ideas and desires
A fabric taking shape
Before deciding on a fabric, you have to touch it and listen to it rustle and crackle before truly understanding its real character.
Before deciding on a fabric, you have to touch it and listen to it rustle and crackle before truly understanding its real character. This is why our employees travel directly to our business clients to present our new collections on site. Afterwards, they can order sample material for their business.
This means that our final customers can experience the new Zimmer + Rohde collections for themselves. Whether as the ideal upholstery for a new armchair, long-desired curtains for the dining room or the perfect cover for a new cushion – the fabric now starts to assume a shape. With our professional sewing service, such concrete ideas and desires are implemented directly.
